18th Meeting

Dear colleagues and friends,

This year’s neurosonology meeting has come to an end. The organizing committee was very pleased to receive such a positive feedback from participants. We are confident that a positive atmosphere was created to enable important synergies that will surely foster upcoming developments in neurosonology.

Beyond the traditional tutorial and scientific sessions, some of the particularities of the 18th Meeting of the European Society of Neurosonology and Cerebral Hemodynamics were to host the 3rd Cerebral Autoregulation network meeting, and the inclusion of special sessions, such as a symposium on “Multimodal monitoring of the neurocritical care patient”, an interactive session on “Pitfalls and interesting cases in neurosonology”, and a “Highlights of the meeting” session.
Additionally to the scientific program, we have tried to offer a warm hospitality, namely with the social relaxing evening programs, at the beach, at Port wine cellars, and in a boat in river Douro.

The meeting hosted participants form all continents promoting active discussion throughout over 30 hours of neurosonological science.

Here are the main data of the neurosonology 2013 meeting at a glance:

• Number of participants at the conference: 402
• Number of countries: 47, from 5 continents
• Number of participants at the Basic tutorials Theory and Hands-on: 50
• Number of participants at the Advanced Tutorials Theory and Practical Demonstrations: 70
• Number of participants in the Examination for the International Certification in Neurosonology: 41
• Number of tutorial lectures: 13
• Number of Invited lectures: 29
• Number of Oral presentations: 43
• Number of Poster presentations: 110

We would particularly like to congratulate the investigating teams awarded with the prizes for the three best oral and poster presentations, as well as the eight colleagues who passed the International Certification in Neurosonology.

In the meeting’s website (, and also in ESNCH website (, a selection of pictures can be appreciated, taken during the course of the event capturing several of the meaningful episodes.

Meanwhile, we are preparing a special edition of the International Journal of Clinical Neurosciences and Mental Health, to be dedicated to publish “regular articles” on the topics presented at this meeting.

In sum, we take this opportunity to thank all speakers, participants, sponsors and staff for their active contribution to the success of the meeting!

We are looking forward to meeting you in Rome, 2014!
Very best personal regards,
